Latest Press Release By SYR Spokesman

VERY IMPORTANT:
We need to keep the pressure on as the press want as many
comments from members of the public as possible ASAP so could you send me a
few choice quotes about the nights events. Keep in short and snappy. I need
you to send them into the Western Gazette -
yeovil@westgaz.co.uk. Please phone and
contact as many of the other attendees, who are not on e mail, as possible!

I expect many of you were outraged about how we were addressed last night I
believe we should make some complaints.(Ian Martin stomping off like a
spoilt child without the courtesy of addressing us in a professional manner,
lack of respect by Phil Dolan etc etc need I go on). Ideally these should
come from concerned individuals who we haven't had much (or none at all)
contact with. I was particularly concerned as two ladies remonstrated with
Cllr Tim Carroll about Cllr Fife saying we were only allowed by invitation and that the
police should have been called, whilst also waving his finger at them.

As so many are concerned I will be writing to request that Cllr Tim Carroll detaches the
agenda item on the Sports Zone and convene a proper separate debate so we can have a
decent amount of time to discuss it. This will mean they can get on with the
rest of their really important business at a time of their choosing without
interference from the Sports Zone issues. I suggest as many write to him to ask for
the same.

Post Note:

I have had a quick response from Council leader Tim Carroll to my request for a

separate debate as the interest is so high, on the arguments he makes for not having this debate:
Implying that the meeting would be incurring additional cost - what price democracy in the light of £28m
for the Sports Zone?
Saying we had intentions, which we have never had of disrupting normal council business

To suggest SYR members would do this is unfair.
So what reasons are left to prevent the public from having this agenda item debated separately I ask?
I will also be requesting an apology from Cllr Carroll for the unsubstantiated accusations made

(not for the first time) about me.

This was said in front of several journalists and members of the public after the abandoned meeting.
