Heavy snowfalls on the Rec in Feb 2009

“Wonderful Winter Scenes” like this will disappear if SSDC has its way and continues to propose development of this site. The latest proposal being the new synthetic Hockey Pitch facility. Instead of open space, you would be staring at Surfacing material surrounded by 5.0 Metre high posts & fencing sprinkled with 15.0 Meter flood lighting masts. Large banking & revetments to loose the excavated material from the land cut to level the pitch.

The Council are also seeking to reroute the Yeovil Marsh Footpath to the fence along side the Pitch & Put green in the gully & under trees, which they claim is the preferred route! Not the actual route of the footpath which is the natural shortest route from North to South.
