Yeovil Rec is under threat from the SSDC ‘visionaries’. The proposal is to utilise the site to accommodate a Sports Zone and ancillary 400 place car park with access road, as well as a full size Astro Turf football pitch. This proposal would completely destroy the open vista aspect of this rare urban community open green space, and reduce the free access area to a fraction of its current size.
In order to fund such a monstrosity smaller green space areas within SSDC are being considered for disposal, so your green space wherever you live is also under threat.
Save Yeovil Rec group was setup by People concerned about this development with the aim of maintaining Yeovil Rec as a green field site for use by the public in perpetuity
