Flagship Play Area Latest
The retrospective application submitted by SSDC for the Flagship has been approved at Yeovil Town Council Planning meeting on the 9th Nov 2009
Councillors approved the application but with the condition that the area must be fenced
SYR members will be asking questions at the SSDC Dec meeting, what will be the estimate costs of supply & erection also who will be responsible for that cost
SYR members attended the SSDC extra Winter meeting on Thurs 21st Jan 2010.
The council reported on its day to day items, of note was that Councilor Tony Lock raised a motion that the level of treatment of the recent snow and ice in the district was unacceptable
Although not discussed by the Chairman Ian Martin but of
more interest to SYR was the item recorded on page 56 of the Agenda. Summarizing the work of the recent Scrutiny Committee meeting on 5th Jan 2010.
Under the Capital Program for 2010/11 to 2014/15 which is routinely considered by the members and commented to the District Executive on the proposed capital bids, recommended for approval was a proposals to delay and review the set up of a reserve for the Sports Zone.
SYR are unsure as to the full meaning of this item and will be investigating over the next few weeks and reporting back on their findings
But it would appear at last that those Councilors responsible for the Sports Zone are starting to finally realize that SSDC has no funds now or in the future to proceed with this large capital expenditure. Which may have been due to the report at the Nov 2009 meeting by the Chief Executive that funding of the Council and its services would be facing severe cuts due to the current National Debt
NB It is now known that SSDC current reserve is
£34 million (not £7m as previously stated) confirmed by
Cllr Carroll to SYR
